Take a look at the Arches Delicate Arch Hike
Delicate arch is the iconic hike in Arches national Park in Utah. It is just over 3 miles with a 480 foot incline. The first 0.7 miles is pretty flat then it’s a steady uphill climb for the last half.
Pack a lunch and sit in the rock amphitheater overlooking the arch. Sunset is a particularly pretty time to go as the sun lights up the red rocks.
The arch opening is 46 feet high and 32 feet wide, making it the largest free-standing arch in Arches.
The term “Delicate” first appeared in a January 1934 article about the Arches National Monument Scientific Expedition, which described it as “the most delicately chiseled arch in the entire area.”
If you’re not up for the 3.2 miles, you can still see the arch from two different viewpoints. At Lower Delicate Arch Viewpoint, walk a level 100 yards to see the arch from one mile away. Or walk up the stairs to Upper Viewpoint (0.5 mi) for a better view.
