Kanab, Utah
Kanab - Its only 4.5 hrs from Salt Lake, 1.5 hours from St. George, and 3 hrs from Las Vegas. You can also add Bryce Canyon to your trip, its a 1.5 hr drive.
Elkheart Cliffs Slot Canyon - Almost 9 miles sandy and uphill. Maybe not the best for kids.
Red Canyon Slot (Peekaboo Kanab) - Easy, short hike (0.7 miles round trip) into a beautiful slot canyon with orange sandstone walls. There are ancient Moqui Steps climbing the canyon wall as well as logs balanced. The trial might be deep sand and feel longer than just under a mile.
Kanab Sand Caves and Moqui Cave - They look pretty cool when you are in them but are basically right off the road and man-made so maybe not as impressive. Right off of Highway 89, 5 miles North of Kanab.
Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park - A great place to play around and has a campsite. You can rent Atv’s and sand boards and sleds onsite.
The Wave - you need a permit to hike and only 20 people a day can visit. The hike is about 3 miles one way so 6 total. It is a 2 hour drive east from Kanab just over into Arizona.
